    Description

The CloudTune Capacity Management and Planning (CaMP) team is responsible for strategically planning, procuring, optimizing, and managing the cloud compute infrastructure that powers Amazon"s global retail products and services. Our mission is to ensure Amazon has the right compute capacity, at the right time and cost, while maximizing infrastructure utilization and minimizing waste. We support year-round business operations and major global traffic events, including Prime Day, Q4 holidays, the Super Bowl, and Prime Video original launches.

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically strong Senior Technical Program Manager to lead complex, cross-organizational infrastructure optimization and capacity planning initiatives. This role will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of programs that improve compute efficiency, optimize infrastructure investments, and enable Amazon to scale reliably and cost-effectively.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical understanding of cloud infrastructure with strong business judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to influence decisions across engineering, finance, economics, and AWS leadership. This is a high-impact role requiring the ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge existing mechanisms, and translate complex infrastructure constraints into scalable, automated solutions.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own Executive-Level Infrastructure Cost Efficiency Goals
    • Drive delivery of the ELT-level goal to maintain SDO pool Infrastructure Monthly Recurring (IMR) costs within established thresholds, balancing infrastructure efficiency, capacity availability, and business growth requirements.
    • Proactively look around corners to identify emerging cost pressures, idle capacity accumulation, demand fluctuations, and infrastructure inefficiencies that could put IMR targets at risk.
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive capacity optimization strategy spanning idle capacity forecasting, resource reuse, Sweep, Reserved Instance expiration, resizing, and infrastructure returns.
    • Establish leading indicators, forecasting mechanisms, and automated controls to proactively manage IMR performance and identify corrective actions before financial thresholds are breached.
    • Partner with engineering, AWS, finance, and business stakeholders to drive systemic efficiency improvements, influence investment priorities, and deliver sustainable reductions in infrastructure waste.
    • Own executive-level reporting on IMR performance, cost drivers, risks, and mitigation plans, ensuring clear accountability for achieving organizational efficiency goals.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
