Tax Senior Manager
Location: Traverse City, MI
Compensation: $135,000 – $175,000 DOE
Schedule: Full-time
A regional public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager to join its Traverse City office. This is a strong opportunity for a senior tax professional who enjoys client relationships, technical tax review, mentoring staff, and helping grow a tax practice.
This role is ideal for someone who wants more than compliance work — someone who can manage complex tax engagements, advise clients, develop associates, and contribute to firm growth.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the preparation and review of individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and other entity tax returns
- Conduct tax research for complex and unique client situations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and contribute to the success of their organizations
- Build strong internal relationships and collaborate across teams
- Provide direction, coaching, and new challenges to associates
- Teach, mentor, and develop team members as they grow in their careers
- Participate in activities that support firm growth and new business development
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional specialists and services to existing clients
- Deliver a high-quality client service experience
- Support a collaborative, people-focused team culture
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry
- Active CPA license required
- MST is a plus
- Strong experience reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and entity tax returns
- Experience managing tax engagements and client relationships
- Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates
- Interest in business development, practice growth, and client expansion
- Ability to develop creative business solutions in a team-based environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to bring new ideas
- Strong integrity, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement
