    Description

**Senior Manager – Tax & Accounting Services Practice**

This is a full-spectrum leadership role in a public accounting practice. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, supervising professional staff, reviewing complex tax and accounting work, and driving practice growth. If you are not already operating at or above this level, this role will expose gaps quickly.

**You must hold an active CPA license.** This is non-negotiable. If your license is inactive, lapsed, or in another state without immediate portability, do not apply.

**You must bring 8–10 years of progressive public accounting experience, with significant time spent managing tax and accounting engagements.** If your background is primarily industry or corporate accounting, you will struggle with the client-facing intensity, the variety of entity types, and the pace of a practice environment.

**You must be advanced in QuickBooks Online and Desktop—not familiar, not comfortable, but advanced.** You will be expected to troubleshoot complex accounting issues in QuickBooks, train staff, and guide clients through technical problems on day one. If you need time to "get up to speed," this role will feel frustrating for you and the team.

**You must be strongly proficient in Thomson Reuters software products, including UltraTax CS, Accounting CS, Practice CS, and Fixed Assets CS.** If you have never used these platforms in a production environment, the learning curve will slow you down in a role that demands immediate technical leadership.

**You must have deep, applied knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting standards.** You will review compilations, reviews, and complex financial statements across multiple industries. If your GAAP knowledge is theoretical or outdated, errors will surface under your supervision.

**You must have proven experience supervising, mentoring, and developing professional staff.** You will manage managers, seniors, and associates—conducting performance evaluations, coaching through technical challenges, and holding people accountable. If you have not directly managed teams or feel uncomfortable with difficult conversations, this role will drain you.

**You must be willing and able to work extended hours during tax season and other peak periods.** This is not optional. If you need strict boundaries or cannot flex your schedule when clients and deadlines demand it, this environment is not for you.

**You must be capable of serving as the primary relationship manager for key clients.** This means proactive communication, tax planning, business consulting, and identifying growth opportunities. If you prefer heads-down technical work without client interaction, you will find this role exhausting.

This position requires someone who is already performing at this level and ready to lead from day one.
