Senior Tax Consultant Overview

Reporting to the VP of Accounting & Finance, the Senior Tax Consultant will serve as a trusted subject matter expert on federal, state, and international tax issues. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who can quickly evaluate tax positions, identify risks, and deliver practical, business-focused recommendations.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Tax Consultant

Corporate Tax Compliance

• 
  
• Review federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns prepared by external advisors.
• 
  
• Analyze supporting schedules, book-to-tax adjustments, apportionment calculations, and tax positions.
• 
  
• Assist with estimated tax calculations and filing requirements.
• 
  
• Provide guidance to finance stakeholders on tax compliance matters.
• 
  

Tax Accounting & Provision Support

• 
  
• Support quarterly and annual tax provision reviews under ASC 740.
• 
  
• Review deferred tax calculations and uncertain tax positions.
• 
  
• Advise on tax accounting impacts related to business transactions.
• 
  

Audit & Tax Authority Support

• 
  
• Assist with responses to federal, state, and local tax notices and audits.
• 
  
• Coordinate documentation and information requests.
• 
  
• Partner with management and external advisors to evaluate audit findings and resolutions.
• 
  

Multi-State & International Tax

• 
  
• Conduct nexus reviews and evaluate state filing obligations.
• 
  
• Review state apportionment methodologies and tax positions.
• 
  
• Support transfer pricing and intercompany tax matters.
• 
  
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on international tax considerations.
• 
  

Special Projects

• 
  
• Provide technical expertise for tax-related initiatives and projects.
• 
  
• Support additional tax compliance, reporting, and accounting activities as needed.
• 
  

Qualifications of the Senior Tax Consultant

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 
  
• 7+ years of corporate tax experience.
• 
  
• Strong experience reviewing federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns.
• 
  
• Deep understanding of ASC 740 and corporate tax accounting principles.
• 
  
• Experience supporting tax audits and collaborating with external tax advisors.
• 
  
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• 
  
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
•
