Job Details

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and S-corporations
  • Conduct tax research and analysis on complex issues, providing clear, well-documented conclusions
  • Assist with tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities and ensure compliance with current regulations
  • Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide constructive feedback and training
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, address questions, and provide updates on engagement status
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and potential issues, escalating to managers/partners as appropriate
  • Stay current on changes in tax law and assess their impact on clients
  • Assist with IRS and state tax authority correspondence and audits
  • Support special projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and entity restructuring, as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's in Taxation a plus
  • CPA or EA license (or actively pursuing a certification)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive tax experience, preferably in public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations across multiple entity types
  • Proficiency with tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, UltraTax, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and willingness to mentor junior staff
