Position Summary

As a Senior Systems Management Analyst focusing on Epic Cadence and Referrals, you will partner with clinical and operational leadership to design, optimize, and maintain patient scheduling and referral workflows. You will lead template optimization, manage system build, align referral operations with scheduling access, and utilize access metrics to reduce delays in care and improve patient access across primary care and specialty settings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to design and optimize Epic Cadence scheduling templates, improving access, utilization, and alignment to care delivery goals
  • Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent scheduling optimization requests across specialties and primary care, balancing local needs with enterprise access strategies
  • Work closely with operations to translate access objectives into sustainable template structures, standards, and scheduling workflows
  • Maintain and enhance scheduling build (visit types, blocks, rules, and overrides) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and process improvement, partnering with operational teams to reduce variation and manual workarounds
  • Serve as a senior Cadence Access resource, supporting stakeholders with issue resolution, best practices, and guidance on scheduling optimization
  • Partner with referral operations and access teams to align referral workflows with scheduling templates, ensuring timely and appropriate patient access to care
  • Collaborate on referral optimization efforts (work queues, prioritization, and routing) to improve conversion from referral to scheduled visit and reduce delays in care delivery

Required Qualifications:

  • Epic Cadence certification
  • 5+ years of progressive experience supporting Epic Cadence, with demonstrated expertise in scheduling template design and access optimization
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing access metrics (e.g. third next available, no-shows) and translating insights into actionable build and workflow improvements
  • 3+ years of experience partnering with clinical and operational leaders to align scheduling and referral workflows with organizational access goals
  • 3+ years of working knowledge of referral workflows and their integration with scheduling, including work queues, prioritization, and conversion to visits
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing scheduling and access initiatives in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic Referrals certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience in healthcare systems management)
  • Experience with MyChart self-scheduling or digital patient access workflows
  • Experience configuring decision tree or decision support scheduling tools within Epic
  • All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
