We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise IT infrastructure in a fast-paced biotech environment. This role will be responsible for maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable systems across cloud and on-prem environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in systems engineering, cloud platforms, automation, and security, with experience operating in regulated environments (GMP, SOX, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Infrastructure
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure (Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, storage)
- Manage hybrid environments spanning on-prem and cloud (AWS/Azure)
- Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of systems
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
Cloud & Modernization
- Architect and support cloud infrastructure in AWS and/or Azure
- Lead cloud migrations and optimization initiatives
- Optimize cost, performance, and reliability of cloud resources
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain system security best practices
- Partner with security teams on vulnerability management and remediation
- Ensure compliance with GMP, SOX, and FDA requirements
- Manage identity and access controls (SSO, MFA, RBAC)
Monitoring, Automation & Performance
- Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripting (PowerShell)
- Perform root cause analysis and performance tuning
- Maintain system documentation
Collaboration & Escalation Support
- Act as Tier 3 escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
- Partner with Help Desk, Network, and Security teams
- Support IT projects and cross-functional initiatives
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles
- Strong expertise in: Windows Server & Active Directory, Linux systems administration, Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), Backup solutions (VEEAM)
- Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell)
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability design
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in biotech, pharma, or regulated environments
- Knowledge of GMP, HIPAA, SOX, or FDA compliance frameworks
- Certifications such as: Microsoft (Azure Administrator/Architect), AWS Solutions Architect, and VMware (VCP)
- Experience with enterprise tools such as: Microsoft Intune, SolarWinds, Palo Alto Networks, and Veeam backup solution

Compensation and Benefits
The posted salary range represents Capricor’s good-faith estimate of the salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position at the time of hire. Final compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, scope of role, location, and internal equity.
This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus and, depending on the level of the role, long-term equity incentive awards in accordance with company policy.
