Role Overview
We are partnering with a leading aerospace and avionics company to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and validation of advanced avionics systems.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working across the full product lifecycle. Youll contribute to system architecture, guide junior engineers, and ensure product requirements are clearly defined, validated, and aligned with customer needs and long-term product strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Support system architecture and design efforts for new avionics products and R&D initiatives
Provide technical input on proposals, including cost and effort estimation with minimal oversight
Define, manage, and maintain system requirements that are clear, testable, and traceable
Ensure requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle
Contribute to verification, validation, and regression testing activities
Develop and review qualification test documentation (DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, RTCA, EUROCAE)
Support lab testing activities, including setup and execution
Conduct trade studies and assist in avionics component/system selection
Develop and review hardware requirements and interface control documents (ICDs)
Partner with project management across hardware and software development lifecycles
Participate in peer and milestone reviews (PDR, CDR, SDR)
Develop system safety documentation aligned with ARP4754A and ARP4761
Support technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders
Identify risks and contribute to mitigation strategies (technical and schedule)
Develop ground test plans and support aircraft integration activities
Troubleshoot installation issues and assist with flight testing as needed
Analyze test data and communicate findings
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
6+ years of systems engineering experience in aerospace, avionics, or embedded systems
Experience in electronics development (hardware and/or software systems)
Background in analog, digital, and mixed-signal design, testing, and debugging
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Experience developing test procedures for avionics verification and qualification
Familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer)
Knowledge of aircraft systems and installation processes
Exposure to tools such as Python, MATLAB, Simulink, SPICE (or similar)
Understanding of DO-178C and DO-254 processes (or similar safety-critical development frameworks)
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10-20%
