Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Senior System Administrator. In this role, you will deliver a wide range of system administration support based on experience level, including implementing and managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and derivative IT environments, as well as installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux-based operating systems and services.

  • This is an onsite position located at Ft. Meade and requires a TS/SCI w/FS Poly.*

What You'll Do:

  • Support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and install/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems.
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 10 years of experience as a System Administrator OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years' experience with the following:

  • Design, plan, installation, configuration, and sustainment of a Red Hat Linux (RHEL) environment.

  • Creation of automation scripts for configuration, backup, and restoration using well known scripting languages (Bash/Perl)

  • Performing Puppet system administration

  • Installing software from YUM repositories, RPM Files, tar-balls, or source code

  • Researching, acquiring, and applying IAVA patches

  • Unix/Linux command line

  • VMWare architecture, Installation and configuration. Experience with facilitating failover with VMotion, VMWare template library, and VMWare monitoring capability

  • Salt to manage complex IT environments across multiple operating systems

  • 3 years' experience in implementing OS level clustering.

  • NIFI experience is preferred.

  • An active certification related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

US Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
