Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Senior System Administrator. In this role, you will deliver a wide range of system administration support based on experience level, including implementing and managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and derivative IT environments, as well as installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux-based operating systems and services.
- This is an onsite position located at Ft. Meade and requires a TS/SCI w/FS Poly.*
What You'll Do:
- Support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
- Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
- Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
- Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
- Support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
- Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and install/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
- Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
- Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems.
- Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.
Education/Experience/Skillset Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 10 years of experience as a System Administrator OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years' experience with the following:
Design, plan, installation, configuration, and sustainment of a Red Hat Linux (RHEL) environment.
Creation of automation scripts for configuration, backup, and restoration using well known scripting languages (Bash/Perl)
Performing Puppet system administration
Installing software from YUM repositories, RPM Files, tar-balls, or source code
Researching, acquiring, and applying IAVA patches
Unix/Linux command line
VMWare architecture, Installation and configuration. Experience with facilitating failover with VMotion, VMWare template library, and VMWare monitoring capability
Salt to manage complex IT environments across multiple operating systems
3 years' experience in implementing OS level clustering.
NIFI experience is preferred.
An active certification related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

US Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
