Job DetailsPosition Summary
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for the overall field leadership, coordination, and successful execution of construction projects from mobilization through completion. This individual serves as the primary on-site leader and is accountable for safety, quality, schedule adherence, subcontractor management, and overall project performance.
The ideal candidate is a proactive field leader with extensive experience overseeing complex commercial construction projects and managing large teams in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities from project startup through closeout.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules in collaboration with project management teams.
- Direct and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and field personnel.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
- Conduct daily site planning meetings and coordinate project sequencing activities.
- Maintain strict quality control and proactively identify and resolve construction issues.
- Monitor labor productivity and subcontractor performance to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders to facilitate project success.
- Oversee site logistics, material deliveries, equipment utilization, and workforce planning.
- Lead project safety initiatives and foster a culture of accountability and incident prevention.
- Support project reporting efforts, including schedule updates, progress tracking, and field documentation.
- Mentor Assistant Superintendents and emerging field leaders.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of commercial construction experience, including significant experience in a lead superintendent role.
- Proven track record managing projects valued at $20M+.
- Experience overseeing complex ground-up and renovation projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, building systems, and site operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large subcontractor teams and maintain high-quality standards.
- Expertise in construction safety practices, OSHA compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Proficiency with construction management software and digital field reporting tools.
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout New Hampshire and the surrounding region as needed.
