Senior Superintendent – Federal Construction

A growing commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead complex federal building projects across Eastern Washington and Idaho. This is a key field-leadership hire driven by a strong backlog and several large projects coming online in Idaho and Spokane

The right person will bring at least 10 years of federal/government construction experience, strong field leadership, and the ability to confidently manage project teams, subcontractors, schedules, safety, quality, and federal documentation from mobilization through closeout.

Senior Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Provide overall field leadership for large and complex federal construction projects.
  • Develop and manage short-term and master schedules, site logistics, manpower, equipment, materials, and daily production.
  • Coordinate self-perform crews, subcontractors, owners, inspectors, design teams, and government representatives.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and applicable federal requirements.
  • Lead site safety, quality-control, and environmental-compliance efforts while maintaining accurate records and required reporting.
  • Anticipate field challenges, resolve conflicts, and communicate risks and solutions proactively to the project team.
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, change documentation, inspections, punch lists, commissioning support, and project closeout.
  • Lead, mentor, and hold field teams accountable while supporting a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Partner closely with project management, estimating, accounting, and executive leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Use construction technology to manage schedules, documentation, communication, and field reporting efficiently.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience delivering federal or military vertical building projects in a superintendent or senior field-leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, technically complex commercial projects from mobilization through turnover and closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of federal contracting requirements, documentation, quality control, safety standards, and inspection processes.
  • Experience working with federal agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, or similar government clients strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead subcontractors and coordinate structural, architectural, building-envelope, MEP, life-safety, and finish scopes in active jobsite environments.
  • Technologically proficient and comfortable learning and using scheduling, project-management, documentation, and field-reporting platforms.
  • Strong planning, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with ground-up commercial construction, renovations, occupied facilities, and technically demanding building systems is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel or work at project locations in Eastern Washington and Idaho, as required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet project-access requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance bonuses paid twice annually.
  • Top-tier union medical benefits, including dental and vision coverage.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Retirement benefits.
  • Long-term growth potential with an expanding contractor and stable leadership team.

Compensation: $175,000 - $200,000 + bonus
