    Senior Structural Engineer

    Location: Omaha, NE
    Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

    Position Overview

    Our client is currently seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join their engineering team in Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will lead exciting industrial steel and concrete structural projects and serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the organization.

    This role offers the opportunity to take a leadership role in complex industrial projects while providing technical direction, mentoring, design oversight, and engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Lead and provide technical guidance throughout the structural design and engineering process, often serving as the senior reviewer of calculations and structural models.

    • Coordinate, review, and approve building design plans while ensuring work complies with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

    • Provide discipline-specific technical expertise, including preparing and delivering training for junior engineering personnel.

    • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, and 2D/3D illustrations to interpret and present complex data, findings, and analyses.

    • Prepare comprehensive structural technical reports and presentations explaining research, concepts, findings, and recommendations.

    • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret data obtained during site investigations and provide input on action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities.

    • Interact with architects, consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders in a confident and professional manner.

    • Be responsible for the design and safety of temporary structures used during construction.

    • Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors during project planning and risk analysis.

    • Perform material takeoffs for structural steel and concrete on industrial projects.

    • Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for steel, concrete, and geotechnical materials.

    • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while exercising sound judgment in making adaptations and modifications.

    • Travel to job sites, participate in walkdowns, and provide construction or commissioning support as needed.

    • Coordinate with other disciplines, departments, and companies to ensure seamless technical compatibility and completion of engineering tasks safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college or university, with a focus on structural design coursework.

    • 12+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably within the Power and Industrial industry.

    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration required.

    • Structural Engineer (S.E.) registration preferred.

    • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, Enercalc, or similar platforms.

    • Knowledge of AutoCAD.

    • Familiarity with 3D design and viewing software such as Navisworks.

    • Experience working on large industrial projects with an understanding of project environments, requirements, and risks.

    • Strong knowledge and understanding of engineering, construction, and project management principles.

    • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

    • Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering personnel.

    • Ability and willingness to travel to project and job sites as required.

    • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
