    Senior Structural Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)
    Englewood, CO (Onsite with occasional travel)

    We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our client's team in Englewood, Colorado. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting small to mid-sized capital projects across industrial sectors such as oil & gas, mining, and metals. This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of structural design work while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.


    Position Summary

    The Senior Structural Engineer will provide structural engineering services including analysis, design, and documentation for a variety of structural systems. This individual will play a key role in ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements while contributing to technical excellence and project delivery.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform structural engineering design, including preparation, review, and validation of calculations and design sketches for:
      • Steel structures
      • Equipment foundations
      • Deep foundations (piling)
      • Concrete foundations
    • Ensure accuracy through internal checking processes, peer reviews, and incorporation of feedback
    • Apply engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to all deliverables
    • Conduct job site walk-downs to assess existing conditions and support new construction or retrofit evaluations
    • Compile data and perform quantity take-offs for structural materials
    • Prepare engineering studies, calculations, analyses, and technical reports with clear recommendations
    • Identify technical challenges and develop alternative solutions, including documenting technical queries and deviations
    • Participate in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews
    • Support quality control initiatives and stay current with evolving codes, standards, and technologies
    • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors to maintain strong working relationships
    • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, environmental, and security requirements

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (structural emphasis required)
    • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in oil & gas, mining, metals, or related industrial projects
    • Strong understanding of:
      • ASCE 7
      • ACI 318
      • AISC 360
      • International Building Code (IBC)
    • Working knowledge of PIP standards
    • Experience with engineering tools such as:
      • STAAD
      • LPile
      • MathCAD
      • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Basic familiarity with AutoCAD (2D) and Navisworks (3D); AutoCAD 3D is a plus
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing
    • Ability to travel up to 20% locally for site visits as required

    Licensure

    • Required: Professional Engineer (PE) license (Colorado or ability to obtain Colorado PE)
    • Preferred: Structural Engineer (SE) license in at least one state

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field
    • Experience working on EPC or industrial infrastructure projects
