What You Will Do
- Design, build, and ship full-stack product features that accelerate scientific research and drug discovery.
- Develop scalable backend services, REST APIs, and data pipelines that power AI-driven scientific workflows.
- Build intuitive frontend applications enabling researchers to analyze complex biological datasets without writing code.
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design through production deployment and continuous iteration.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, AI researchers, and software engineers to translate complex scientific workflows into intuitive software.
- Architect systems across application, identity, data storage, and machine learning infrastructure layers.
- Build production-quality software supporting enterprise customers in highly secure and regulated environments.
- Participate in rapid development cycles, shipping production code within weeks of joining.
- Help establish engineering best practices while contributing to architecture, scalability, and platform evolution.
- Work directly on AI-powered products that significantly accelerate pharmaceutical research and development.
Ideal Background
- 4+ years of professional experience in full-stack or backend software engineering.
- Proven experience building production software at early-stage or high-growth startups.
- Strong proficiency with Python and modern frontend frameworks such as React.
- Experience designing scalable backend systems, REST APIs, databases, and data-intensive applications.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and modern software architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated ownership of customer-facing systems from concept through production.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in highly collaborative environments.
- Comfortable working onsite in San Francisco and contributing within a fast-paced startup culture.
Preferred
- Experience with Django, GraphQL, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Startup experience as an early engineer, founding engineer, or technical founder.
- Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or data-intensive software platforms.
- Interest in computational biology, bioinformatics, life sciences, or scientific software.
- Experience building enterprise SaaS products serving technical users.
- Strong systems design skills with experience scaling production applications.
- Demonstrated curiosity, ownership, and passion for solving complex technical challenges.
- Long-term commitment to startup environments with a track record of building products rather than maintaining legacy systems.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $175,000–$270,000.
- Equity: 0.2–0.6%.
