We're partnering with a well-established Indianapolis company to identify a Senior Staff Accountant who can bring strong analytical skills, accounting expertise, and attention to detail to a growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to make an immediate impact while gaining long-term career potential through a contract-to-hire arrangement.
In this role, you'll work closely with leadership on financial reporting, month-end activities, process improvements, and strategic accounting initiatives. The ideal candidate is hands-on, enjoys digging into the details, and is comfortable working across multiple areas of accounting.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead key components of the monthly and annual close process
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Analyze financial information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards
Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting activities
Track, maintain, and reconcile fixed asset records
Review accruals, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet accounts
Support external audit and annual review efforts by gathering documentation and responding to requests
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
Partner with operational departments to strengthen accounting procedures and improve reporting accuracy
Contribute to special projects, process enhancements, and system improvements
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong understanding of financial reporting and general ledger accounting
Advanced Excel skills and comfort learning new software platforms
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA-track candidate
Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-location business environment
Exposure to ERP systems such as NetSuite
Manufacturing, distribution, or privately held company experience is a plus
