    Description

Are you passionate about helping customers reimagine their technology landscape and move confidently to the cloud? As a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect focused on Infrastructure Migration and Modernization at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will partner directly with customers to design and deliver migration strategies that transform how they build, deploy, and operate on AWS. You will combine deep technical expertise with business acumen to assess complex application portfolios, architect hybrid and cloud-native solutions, and guide customers through every phase of their migration journey. This role puts you at the intersection of strategy and execution, where your recommendations shape long-term technology direction and drive measurable business outcomes.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Design end-to-end migration and modernization solutions by analyzing customer application portfolios, identifying dependencies, assessing migration feasibility, and architecting reliable, cost-optimized paths to AWS.
    • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customer stakeholders from developers and system administrators to directors and C-level executives, defining cloud strategies and ensuring solutions align with their business objectives.
    • Lead technical solution discussions by diving deeply into design choices, best practices, and use cases, while proactively identifying high-risk or overly complex options and engaging the right specialist resources when needed.
    • Author and deliver thought leadership content such as whitepapers, reference architectures, and presentations that educate customers on migration best practices and AWS platform capabilities.
    • Collaborate with internal teams including sales, business development, professional services, and engineering to progress customer engagements through their lifecycle and accelerate solution adoption.

    A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing a customer"s application portfolio assessment, identifying which workloads are ready for migration and which need modernization. By mid-morning you are on a call with a customer"s engineering leadership, walking through your proposed hybrid architecture and discussing trade-offs around scalability and cost. After lunch, you collaborate with an AWS service team to refine a reference design that other Solutions Architects can reuse. Later, you draft an AWS technical blog post capturing lessons learned from a recent large-scale migration, turning your hands-on experience into guidance the broader community can benefit from.

    About the team

Our team at AWS helps customers navigate some of the most consequential technology decisions they face; moving and modernizing their infrastructure in the cloud. We work closely with customers across industries. We meet our customers where they are in their cloud journey and guide them toward architectures that are secure, resilient, and built for growth. We value collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a genuine commitment to customer outcomes, and we are always looking for thoughtful, curious builders who want to make a real impact.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
