This is an excellent opportunity for a cleared mechanical engineer who enjoys complex, hands-on hardware work and wants to contribute to mission-critical programs. The selected professional will design, develop, qualify, integrate, and test advanced mechanical, precision-mechanism, and electro-mechanical hardware within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Design, develop, and support the qualification of complex mechanical hardware, precision mechanisms, and electromechanical systems.
  • Create, revise, and release 3D CAD models, part drawings, assembly drawings, schematics, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Define mechanical requirements; perform concept development, material selection, engineering trade studies, and design-optimization analyses.
  • Lead or contribute to preliminary and final mechanical design efforts, including design reviews, product change reviews, and engineering-change implementation.
  • Develop prototype hardware and support mechanical assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and laboratory testing.
  • Create mechanical subsystem test plans, procedures, reports, and technical-data-package documentation.
  • Evaluate component and assembly performance, including thermal, structural, fit, function, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Participate in PDRs, CDRs, peer reviews, customer meetings, field tests, and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, test, quality, and programming teams.
  • Provide technical directions to designers, technicians, operators, and other project contributors as needed.
  • Present technical concepts, design status, risks, and recommendations to internal leadership, customers, and other program stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline plus at least 6 years of relevant experience; or
  • Graduate degree plus at least 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • At least 10 years of directly relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI security clearance; a TS clearance that has been active within the last two years may also be considered.
  • Demonstrated mechanical engineering and critical-hardware design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD-based design.
  • Experience developing complex mechanical hardware from concept through fabrication, integration, test, and release.
  • Ability to work independently, manage technically challenging assignments, and operate effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with hardware in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as program needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • Precision mechanisms, motion-control systems, actuators, or custom gear trains.
  • Mechatronic and electromechanical hardware.
  • Electronics or module packaging.
  • Thermal and structural analysis considerations.
  • Size, weight, and power optimization.
  • Creo or comparable 3D CAD software.
  • ASME Y14.5 and GD&T.
  • Additive manufacturing, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Assembly.
  • Prototype development, materials testing, and manufacturing-process support.
  • Aerospace, defense, electro-optical, sensor, or other mission-critical hardware programs.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base-salary range for this direct-hire opportunity is $88,500–$164,500 per year, depending on relevant experience, technical qualifications, clearance status, and internal equity.
