    Description

    The Senior Sourcing Engineer is responsible for the management and execution of projects within the Supply Chain/Purchasing department. Improvement projects would focus on the areas of supplier quality, new supplier development and qualification, ERP system improvements, supply/demand modelling, logistics/transportation optimization, and supplier quality improvement.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    Lead projects within the purchasing department including new supplier development, cost reduction, and process improvement
    Apply statistical knowledge to identify areas for improvement within manufacturing processes in supply chain
    New & existing product sourcing
    Maintain accurate project schedules and communicate any issues in a timely manner to management.
    Cost based comparative analysis (Make vs Buy, Buy vs. Buy analysis)
    Evaluate supplier capabilities with respect to our business demands
    Perform inventory analysis & ERP process management (Safety Stock levels, Order Frequency, Order Quantitys, etc.)
    Work closely with the product development group to ensure new products are brought to production with adequate supply chain consideration
    Manage Supplier Quality Issue Tracking system in MARSHALLTOWN and follow vendor related issues from creation to closure
    Identify discrepancies in product specifications and work with vendors to correct any issues


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field, required.
    Masters degree in mechanical, industrial, or related engineering field a plus
    5+ years related experience, required. Experience acquiring materials and services needed for projects. Experience working closely with the engineering and supply chain departments to analyze technical requirements, identify suitable suppliers, and negotiate contracts.
    Experience with steel, aluminum, or plastics manufacturing processes
    Demonstrated history of problem-solving and project management experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain processes
    Business system (ERP/MRP) experience a plus
    Strong spreadsheet and database knowledge
    Strong verbal and written communication skills required
    Ability to consult and interact with suppliers and internal teams from product development, manufacturing, marketing, finance, and suppliers
    Fluency in Mandarin, preferred!


    This is not a remote work position. Some domestic and international travel will be required. (Less than 20%)
