The Company:
Our client is the most complete management services platform for residential construction projects in the U.S., with headquarters in California. They bring a complete outsourced operating system - it's not just software - their team actually does the work. Leveraging over 35 years of combined experience in construction management and workflow optimization, their system gets jobs done faster, more profitably, and with a higher level of customer satisfaction. Today, the majority of their projects focus on solar installations and residential construction.

The Role:
They are looking for a PV Design Engineer to transform site visit information into accurate, high-quality solar system designs for residential projects in the U.S. This role is heavily focused on execution, production efficiency, and real-world design accuracy. The ideal candidate will create detailed Aurora designs and AutoCAD plans that serve as the blueprint for installation teams, ensuring projects can be implemented smoothly with minimal revisions or field adjustments. Success in this role will be measured by both design quality and the ability to consistently produce a high volume of designs each month.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop precise and installer-friendly residential solar designs based on customer site visit information, including photos, measurements, and checklists.
  • Create detailed Aurora designs for proposed solar panel arrays and system configurations.
  • Produce comprehensive AutoCAD drawings, including panel layouts, electrical schematics, and supporting installation details.
  • Ensure all designs accurately reflect real-world site conditions to minimize corrections from cities, utilities, and installation teams.
  • Maintain a high throughput of design production while ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate closely with installation and operations teams to gather feedback and continuously improve the design process.
  • Support ongoing process optimization by incorporating updated design techniques, workflows, and software improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, utilities, and permitting stakeholders when necessary.

Requirements:
  • 2–3 years of experience in residential solar design for U.S.-based companies, OR equivalent experience working on single-phase residential electrical design projects commonly used in U.S. and Canadian residential systems.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Experience using solar design software such as Aurora is required or strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of residential solar systems, electrical layouts, and installation-oriented design practices.
  • Experience producing detailed and high-volume design work with strong attention to accuracy and execution quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with installation teams, utilities, and permitting entities.
  • Highly detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of learning new tools, workflows, and design processes quickly.
