Title : Sr.Software Lab Engineer
Location : Chicago, Illinois.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Software Lab Engineer to manage and support software lab infrastructure, telecommunications equipment, and network environments used for complex system testing. This role will partner with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Product, and Testing teams to ensure lab readiness, troubleshoot hardware/software/network issues, and drive continuous improvements across lab operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage software lab operations, infrastructure, equipment inventory, asset tracking, maintenance, audits, and repairs.
- Collaborate with Development, Systems Engineering, Product, and Test teams to identify and implement lab requirements.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, and application-related issues.
- Track issues through JIRA, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution activities.
- Conduct routine health checks and preventive maintenance of lab equipment.
- Support RFQs, purchase requisitions, RMAs, purchase orders, and equipment logistics.
- Create and maintain SOPs, test bench documentation, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Provide technical guidance and support to testing teams and stakeholders.
- Lead lab infrastructure upgrades, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
- Participate in lab management reviews and cross-functional problem-solving activities.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of networking experience, including troubleshooting using nslookup, ping, tracert, and related tools.
- Experience with telecommunications equipment and network environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking domains.
- Experience testing complex systems within Agile/SAFe development environments.
- Proficiency with Windows, Linux/Unix, JIRA, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience managing software labs, test environments, and technical infrastructure.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aviation or In-Flight Entertainment & Connectivity (IFEC) experience.
- Telecom network infrastructure experience.
- Knowledge of inflight connectivity systems, including WAPs, ACPU, and network equipment.
- Experience with lab infrastructure planning, implementation, and automation.
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent networking certifications.
- Experience with inventory management, audits, asset tracking, RFQs, RMAs, and procurement processes.
