Job Summary
Looking for a Senior Software Lab Technician with strong software testing, networking, lab infrastructure, and telecommunications experience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues in a software or telecommunications lab environment.
Job Title:Senior Software Lab Technician
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain software lab infrastructure, equipment, test benches, and network environments.
- Troubleshoot hardware failures, software configuration issues, network connectivity, and application issues.
- Support lab equipment related to telecommunications and in-flight connectivity systems, including WAPs, ACPU, and network equipment.
- Work with Software Development, Systems Engineering, and Product teams to identify and implement lab requirements.
- Manage equipment inventory, asset tracking, audits, repairs, RMAs, and maintenance.
- Perform regular lab equipment health checks and resolve issues.
- Track and document issues using JIRA, including root cause analysis and resolution.
- Create and maintain SOPs, test bench documentation, and technical documentation.
- Support software testing teams through technical guidance and troubleshooting.
- Identify lab infrastructure improvements and support future technology upgrades.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering, software lab, or technical lab experience.
- 2+ years of networking experience with tools such as ping, nslookup, and tracert.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with JIRA and MS Excel.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications equipment and network infrastructure.
- Experience working with in-flight connectivity/IFEC systems is highly relevant.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
