Description

PGS Worldwide is seeking Software Integration Engineers in Sterling Heights, Michigan for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will integrate and test real-time embedded software and hardware for combat vehicle systems, with a strong emphasis on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, networking, troubleshooting, and software verification. Engineers will work closely with multidisciplinary software, systems, hardware, and vehicle test teams to investigate issues and ensure system performance meets technical and customer requirements.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Intermediate track: 2+ years of software integration experience.
  • Experienced track: 4+ years of software integration experience.
  • Experience integrating and testing software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience packaging and integrating software as RPMs and binary executables, including drivers, shared objects, and static libraries.
  • Ability to build and maintain software/hardware integration testbeds.
  • Understanding of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols.
  • Experience with Git and Jira/GitLab configuration management tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex software, hardware, and system integration issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to work with combat vehicle systems.
  • Ability to travel to customer locations as required.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Embedded systems and real-time operating system experience, including VxWorks or similar RTOS.
  • C and C++ programming experience.
  • Bash, PowerShell, or Python scripting experience.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553.
  • Experience with Ethernet protocols including SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
  • Familiarity with UML, DOORS, CMMI, and model-based engineering tools such as MagicDraw or Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience with Qt/QML.
  • Experience with Nessus, Coverity, cybersecurity hardening, and STIG implementation.
  • Experience configuring and using virtual machines.
  • Experience with NI TestStand.
  • Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capabilities.

What You'll Do

  • Integrate and test software applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Integrate software and hardware modules into combat vehicle systems.
  • Perform software verification testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem resolution.
  • Apply Ethernet and CAN bus knowledge to diagnose system and application issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and vehicle test teams to investigate reported problems and analyze collected data.
  • Support scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening, and vulnerability scanning activities.
  • Maintain software/hardware integration test environments.
  • Ensure technical solutions follow established engineering principles, processes, and quality requirements.
  • Work directly with customers and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Experienced-track engineers will also mentor less-experienced engineers in integration, testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 9/80 work schedule.
  • Typical hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Approximately 5% travel.

Pay

  • Intermediate track: $45.46 per hour.
  • Experienced track: $55.57 per hour.
