Location: Palo Alto, CA
Work Arrangement: Onsite 3 4 days per week
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer Wi-Fi Connectivity for one of our clients in the automotive industry. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to next-generation in-vehicle connectivity systems by developing, debugging, and optimizing Wi-Fi software for automotive infotainment platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in Wi-Fi software development, production issue resolution, wireless connectivity debugging, and Wi-Fi certification. This role requires a technically strong individual contributor who can independently identify root causes, implement software fixes, and drive connectivity improvements across embedded platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Independently investigate, triage, debug, and resolve complex Wi-Fi connectivity, stability, and performance issues in embedded automotive systems.
Analyze system logs, network traces, packet captures, and over-the-air (OTA) captures to identify root causes across the Wi-Fi software stack.
Develop, implement, debug, and validate software fixes to improve wireless connectivity, reliability, and overall system performance.
Troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity issues across embedded Linux and Android-based platforms.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams, chipset vendors, and external suppliers to resolve complex integration and interoperability issues.
Support Wi-Fi certification, compliance validation, and regression testing activities.
Investigate and resolve post-production and post-launch connectivity issues in Wi-Fi-enabled products.
Ensure reliable Wi-Fi connectivity across different devices, access points, and automotive infotainment environments.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
10+ years of hands-on experience in Wi-Fi, wireless connectivity, or embedded connectivity software development.
Proven experience developing, launching, and supporting Wi-Fi-enabled products in production environments.
Strong experience troubleshooting and resolving post-launch Wi-Fi connectivity and performance issues.
Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) certification and/or Wi-Fi connectivity certification for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Strong understanding of the Wi-Fi protocol stack, wireless networking fundamentals, and 802.11 standards.
Practical experience with Wi-Fi Direct, SoftAP, and related wireless connectivity technologies.
Strong programming skills in C/C++ within embedded Linux or Android environments.
Ability to independently analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective software fixes.
Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Self-driven engineering professional capable of working independently and delivering solutions within tight timelines.
Experience with Wi-Fi software bring-up and integration on embedded platforms.
Familiarity with Wi-Fi chipset power management and wireless connectivity optimization.
Hands-on knowledge of Linux device drivers and kernel-level debugging.
Experience debugging wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity issues.
Familiarity with Linux networking, network interfaces, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth coexistence.
Experience working with automotive infotainment systems and device interoperability testing.
Exposure to wireless chipset integration, vendor collaboration, and connectivity certification processes.
