Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Systems

Why You'll Actually Care:

District Partners has been exclusively retained by an established data center technology firm entering the most exciting growth chapter in its history. Backed by private equity and positioned in one of the fastest-growing areas of the global technology economy, the company is investing aggressively in new products, expanded capabilities, and future international growth. This is an opportunity to help engineer the intelligent systems behind critical data center infrastructure while joining a close-knit organization where your ideas, technical decisions, and impact will be highly visible.

The Basics:

This is a successful, family-oriented engineering organization with an established product portfolio, loyal customers, and significant momentum across the data center market. The company combines the stability of a proven business with the investment, ambition, and urgency of a high-growth technology organization. Its next chapter includes continued product innovation, meaningful domestic expansion, and a longer-term push into global markets.

What You'll Be Owning:

  • Lead embedded software development from initial concept and architecture through testing, release, and long-term product support
  • Build the software that powers and connects advanced products used within modern data center environments
  • Design and enhance high-performance applications using C/C++ within embedded Linux and real-time systems
  • Influence software architecture, technical standards, and the evolution of the company’s core product platforms
  • Partner directly with hardware, electrical, and systems engineers to solve complex product and integration challenges
  • Mentor fellow engineers while strengthening code quality, testing practices, and technical execution across the team

The Environment:

This is hands-on product engineering with a direct connection between the software you build and the systems customers depend on. You will join a collaborative team at a genuine inflection point, with strong financial backing, an expanding market, and a clear mandate to innovate. The culture remains personal and grounded, but the company’s ambitions are substantial.

What You Bring To The Table:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership across the full product development lifecycle
  • Advanced C/C++ expertise and a strong understanding of Linux, operating systems, memory management, device drivers, and multi-process applications
  • Hands-on experience developing embedded Linux or other embedded real-time software
  • Experience integrating software with hardware platforms, ideally involving SoCs, DSPs, FPGAs, or similar technologies
  • Working knowledge of relational databases, web interfaces, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • Understanding of networking, communication protocols, source control, defect tracking, and modern software engineering practices
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

Compensation: Competitive base salary aligned with the experience and technical depth you bring, plus bonus opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package

Location: Aurora, Ohio
