    Position Summary

    We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force KC-46 Program Office. This role provides software engineering expertise throughout the system lifecycle, supporting the design, development, integration, testing, certification, and sustainment of mission-critical aircraft software and avionics systems. The ideal candidate has experience working within DoD acquisition programs and understands software assurance, airworthiness, and systems engineering processes.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of aircraft software systems.
    • Perform software engineering activities supporting avionics, aircraft mission systems, and related ground systems.
    • Develop and maintain software engineering documentation, including Software Development Plans (SDPs), system requirements, technical evaluations, and engineering reports.
    • Apply software assurance principles using architecture analysis, source code analysis, binary analysis, and software security best practices.
    • Support systems engineering activities, including hardware/software integration, requirements allocation, system architecture, verification, validation, and technical reviews.
    • Perform engineering analyses, trade studies, risk assessments, and system safety evaluations to support program objectives.
    • Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), technical modifications, contractor recommendations, and software deficiency reports.
    • Support Air Force airworthiness, Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E), and Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) compliance.
    • Participate in program design reviews and technical meetings, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR, PMRs, and other engineering working groups.
    • Prepare technical documentation, acquisition artifacts, milestone briefings, and executive-level presentations supporting program decisions.


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline and 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 5 years supporting DoD programs; or Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline, a Master's degree in Engineering, and 12+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 5 years supporting DoD programs.
    • Experience supporting software engineering for military aircraft, avionics, weapon systems, or other complex DoD platforms.
    • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), software assurance, systems engineering, and hardware/software integration.
    • Experience supporting DoD acquisition programs and engineering documentation.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
    • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting the KC-46 or other U.S. Air Force aircraft programs.
    • Knowledge of avionics software, airborne mission systems, and aircraft integration.
    • Familiarity with Air Force airworthiness processes, MIL-HDBK-516C, OSS&E, and Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE).
    • Experience with software assurance tools, static code analysis, architecture analysis, or secure software development.
    • Background supporting engineering change proposals (ECPs), system safety, risk management, and technical design reviews.
