Our client, a global investment management firm, is seeking an AI-forward Senior Software Engineer to join their office in Austin, TX, with additional openings available in El Segundo, CA and New York, NY.
Responsibilities:-
Own key components of a major build-out of a proprietary Order Management System (OMS) and front office trading platform, from design through delivery and production support.

Contribute to architecture and system design decisions, balancing latency, throughput, reliability, and speed to delivery.

Work closely with technical leads to shape the platform roadmap and deliver against it.

Stay hands-on, designing and building core services in Java and Python.

Partner with traders, portfolio managers, and senior technology leaders to turn business needs into clear technical plans.

Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and day-to-day support.

Use AI coding agents and AI-assisted tools every day, and help set standards for how AI-generated code gets reviewed and validated.

Promote best practices in software design, testing, observability, and data quality.

Troubleshoot and improve the reliability and performance of distributed trading systems.
Qualifications:-
10+ years of hands-on software engineering, including 5+ years in trading, market technology, or other high-performance, data-intensive financial environments.

Software engineering experience within financial services, such as at a hedge fund, investment bank, asset manager, or trading firm.

Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction on a team.

A track record of designing, building, and deploying production-grade trading or risk systems that emphasize reliability, fault tolerance, and maintainability.

Expert-level Java and Python.

Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures, including messaging or streaming platforms such as Kafka.

Hands-on, daily use of AI development tools and agents in your coding workflow. Experience with any tools is welcome.

Strong database skills (SQL and/or NoSQL), including query optimization and data modeling.

Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Pluses:-
OMS, execution, or order routing experience across the front office trade lifecycle.

Experience with TCA, P&L attribution, risk factor modeling, or scenario analysis.

Exposure to credit products or multiple asset classes.
-
Rust, Go, or C++ experience.

Performance optimization experience, including profiling, asynchronous processing, and caching. Low-latency experience is welcome but not required.

Building AI workflows or automations that help a team ship faster.

Experience at a top-tier firm, such as a leading multi-strategy hedge fund or investment bank.
Pay Rate: $100 - $120/hr
