Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead with strong backend, systems programming, distributed systems, and networking experience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Go, C/C++, Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, and large-scale distributed services.

Nextunnel is a globally distributed, high-availability networking system that routes device traffic across regions while enforcing strict access controls and maintaining service availability during failures. The platform is primarily written in Go and runs on Kubernetes in AWS, leveraging technologies such as gRPC, mTLS, Docker, GitLab CI, Kustomize, and modern observability tools.

The engineer will provide hands-on technical leadership while helping port the Nextunnel platform to a newly created internal Kubernetes-like deployment platform.

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership of substantial systems.

Strong experience with Go, C/C++, or another systems programming language, with the ability to become productive in Go.

Experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale distributed services in production.

Strong understanding of concurrency, performance analysis, debugging, and capacity planning.

Strong architectural judgment and experience handling production incidents and technical tradeoffs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to align cross-functional teams without relying on formal authority.

Roles & Responsibilities

Port Nextunnel deployment to a newly created internal Kubernetes-like platform.

Troubleshoot issues related to bootstrapping and operating Nextunnel in the new environment.

Improve service scalability, reliability, security, performance, and operability.

Establish clear technical direction and translate it into practical, staged delivery plans.

Write and review robust Go code for distributed, concurrent, and networked systems.

Diagnose complex failures across applications, network protocols, containers, and cloud infrastructure.

Strengthen testing through unit, integration, end-to-end, fuzz, performance, and scale testing.

Collaborate with firmware, cloud infrastructure, security, SRE, and product teams on cross-system changes.

Provide technical leadership and contribute to architecture and implementation decisions.
