Long-Term Contract | 1+ Year Expected
ARC Group has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on backend engineering experience. This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting a major transportation and logistics organization in Jacksonville. The position is hybrid and requires candidates who can work in the Jacksonville area.
This is a hands-on core backend engineering role focused on building secure, scalable, transaction-processing software. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with event-driven architecture, Event Sourcing/CQRS, domain modeling, multi-tenant systems, security, and modern cloud-native backend development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, develop, test, and deliver production-quality backend software supporting transaction-heavy applications.
• Build and maintain event-driven systems using patterns such as Event Sourcing and CQRS.
• Apply domain-driven modeling and strong backend architecture principles to complex business domains.
• Develop secure multi-tenant applications with appropriate tenant isolation, authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection.
• Design relational read models, projections, and supporting database structures for transactional systems.
• Develop cloud-native and serverless backend services, including object storage and serverless compute.
• Write comprehensive automated unit and integration tests, including mocking and test coverage appropriate for production systems.
• Use containers and local cloud-emulation tools to support efficient development and testing.
• Participate in CI/CD quality gates, code reviews, and engineering practices that ensure reliable production releases.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools appropriately while maintaining strong engineering standards and conducting thorough code reviews.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and take ownership of solutions from development through deployment.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial recent hands-on backend development.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and transaction-processing systems.
• Hands-on experience with Event Sourcing, CQRS, or comparable architectural patterns.
• Strong knowledge of domain-driven design/modeling and backend application architecture.
• Experience designing and developing secure multi-tenant applications, including tenant isolation and authorization.
• Strong understanding of encryption, application security, and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Experience with relational databases, read models, projections, and transactional data.
• Experience developing automated unit and integration tests and working with CI quality gates.
• Experience with cloud-native/serverless technologies and object storage.
• Experience working with containers and local cloud-development/emulation environments.
• Proven ability to design, develop, troubleshoot, and deliver production software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with AWS, particularly serverless services such as Lambda and S3.
• Kafka or other event-streaming technologies.
• Experience with distributed, transaction-heavy, OLTP systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong understanding of secure cloud application development.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
IMPORTANT
This is a core backend engineering position, not primarily a DevOps, infrastructure, data warehouse, or BI role. Candidates should have strong, current hands-on software development experience and be comfortable working deeply in backend architecture and application code.
