Senior Software Development Lead / Solution Architect (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite; Hybrid Considered During Contract Phase)

Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule (Every Other Friday Off)

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Lead / Solution Architect to help establish and lead a software development function within our organization. This individual will initially focus on advancing a strategic application currently being developed in Python and AI-assisted environments (Claude/Copilot), while building the foundation for future enterprise application development initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep software development expertise, solution architecture experience, and a proven background building applications within the Oil & Gas industry. This person will be responsible for driving development standards, establishing SDLC processes, partnering with business SMEs, and ultimately helping build and lead a development team.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, development, and deployment of enterprise applications.
• Take ownership of an existing Python-based project and evolve it into a cohesive, production-ready solution.
• Establish software development best practices, coding standards, governance, and SDLC processes.
• Work closely with business stakeholders and SMEs to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with development activities.
• Build and mentor a future development team as internal software capabilities expand.
• Support migration and integration efforts within a Microsoft-centric technology environment.
• Evaluate and leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude to accelerate delivery and innovation.
• Drive application architecture, code quality, scalability, security, and maintainability across projects.
