Senior Software Developer (AI/RAG, Java Full Stack) Greenwood Village, CO (Remote Considered) | C2C
About the Role
Join a forward-thinking engineering team as a Senior Software Developer, leveraging your Java and full-stack expertise to build AI-powered, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems at scale. You'll architect, develop, and deploy next-generation features on cloud-native platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, innovative environment.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement end-to-end RAG pipelines, from document ingestion to LLM-based content generation
- Build and optimize Java microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud, ensuring high throughput and scalability
- Integrate and manage vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, OpenSearch) for performant retrieval workflows
- Design and operate event-driven architectures, leveraging Kafka event streams for real-time data processing
- Deploy and manage containerized solutions on AWS EKS, utilizing Helm charts for Kubernetes orchestration
- Collaborate closely with data, platform, and product teams to define and drive technical direction
- Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and contribute to engineering standards
- Ensure robust API development and maintain scalable, secure RESTful interfaces
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and support monitoring/logging with tools like Harness and Splunk
Required Skills and Experience
- 6+ years of software development experience required; 9+ years preferred
- Demonstrable experience designing and implementing RAG pipelines in production or advanced proof-of-concept settings
- Advanced proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud
- Hands-on expertise with vector databases and LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.)
- Experience deploying microservices on AWS EKS and writing Helm charts
- Strong background with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DocumentDB) and caching (Redis)
- Familiarity with Kafka Connect or Kafka Streams
- Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure, including EC2 management, networking, and IAM
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools and monitoring platforms
Preferred Skills
- 9+ years of relevant software development experience
- In-depth experience scaling microservices in large production environments
- Exposure to the latest AI and machine learning frameworks and trends
