Schwab Technology Services is at the center of how we deliver secure, scalable, and innovative digital experiences that help clients confidently manage their financial futures. Within the Online Security Technology organization, this role sits on the Credentials team—focused on building and evolving critical identity, authentication, and access recovery capabilities that protect client data across web and mobile platforms.

As a Sr Software developer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering next-generation credentialing experiences, including identity verification, passkey enablement, and secure access recovery solutions. You’ll work across distributed systems and multiple lines of business, partnering closely with product owners, engineers, and global teams to translate evolving security and user experience needs into resilient, high-quality software.

Success in this role requires strong ownership, sound technical judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. You will contribute to modern application development using cloud-native architectures, API-driven design, and emerging AI-driven development approaches, helping the team continuously improve how secure customer interactions are built and delivered. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen expertise in modern authentication patterns, cloud technologies, and scalable system design while influencing how Schwab protects and enables client access at scale.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Experience in software development and engineering within an Agile environment

• Strong proficiency in Java, Angular, and/or .NET for building scalable applications

• Experience working with RESTful APIs, JWT tokens, and modern authentication flows

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and environments like PCF

• Experience with databases such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes, including GitHub Actions

• Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving production incidents independently

• Proven ability to design, develop, test, and deliver secure, high-quality software solutions

• Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product owners and distributed/offshore teams

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OAuth 2.0, encryption standards, and secure signing algorithms

• Familiarity with fraud detection patterns, identity attack vectors, or security threats (e.g., SMS pumping)

• Exposure to modern AI-driven development approaches (e.g., context-driven development, agentic development, prompt engineering)

• Experience contributing to system design, architecture decisions, and scalable distributed systems

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field

• Demonstrated ability to identify emerging technology trends and apply them to improve engineering outcomes

• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and influence stakeholders
