    Description

    Senior Software Developer

    Contract-to-Hire Opportunity | Appleton, WI

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our team in Appleton, WI on a contract-to-hire basis. The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for creating innovative solutions to business challenges and managing software programs and applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.

    This position will work closely with multiple business lines and cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, deploy, support, and maintain complex applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to solve complex software and business challenges.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Apply industry best practices and modern development techniques to design, develop, test, deploy, support, and maintain complex applications based on business requirements.
    • Manage the development and implementation of new software programs using approved technologies, architectures, and coding standards.
    • Analyze user needs and recommend and implement software enhancements, improvements, and testing strategies.
    • Review programming scripts and identify opportunities to improve functionality, performance, reliability, and the overall software development lifecycle.
    • Lead research and evaluation of emerging application development technologies in support of software procurement and development initiatives.
    • Partner with development team members to ensure consistency, quality, and timely completion of project deliverables.
    • Lead complex problem-solving efforts and develop effective technical solutions.
    • Lead the design, development, and customization of software applications to optimize operational efficiency.
    • Ensure software documentation, validation, testing, and quality requirements are completed accurately and thoroughly.
    • Provide leadership in cross-functional development practices and application ownership.
    • Mentor, guide, and provide technical instruction to less experienced developers and staff.
    • Analyze software errors and status reports to identify issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Maintain adherence to established QA/QC processes and software development standards.
    • Comply with company and site safety policies and procedures.
    • Comply with all company policies, standards, and applicable procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    Candidates must meet one of the following:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; OR
    • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.

    Required Skills & Technical Expertise

    • Expert knowledge of full-cycle software development methodologies.
    • Expert knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, with SQL Server highly preferred.
    • Advanced ability to create and optimize SQL statements and queries.
    • Expert proficiency with HTML, CSS, and web fonts.
    • Expert technical knowledge of computer equipment, storage systems, backups, operating systems, and tools used within an operating environment.
    • Strong understanding of software development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support processes.
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and analytical skills.
    • Excellent facilitation, team-building, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
    • Excellent critical-thinking and decision-making skills.
    • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to obtain applicable professional or technical certifications.
