Role: The Senior Software Application Developer/Architect will create software applications for CBP/AMO utilizing industry-standard software application development tools. This role will lead design, development, and implementation of complex, scalable software solutions and provide architectural direction, oversee development efforts, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications that align with business objectives. Duties: The Senior Software Application Developer/Architect will: Lead the design, coding, testing, and deployment of secure and reliable software solutions as part of a collaborative Agile team.Develop, maintain, and enhance web-based and desktop applications in support of government operations.Create usable software to the standards and satisfaction of the COR and stakeholders.Serve as technical leader, ensuring best practices in software engineering while staying current with emerging technologiesEnsure information security, data integrity, and regulatory compliance. Lead database design, query optimization, and data integration processes.Design and define application architectures and technical standards for enterprise-level applicationsEvaluate, recommend, and deploy tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality products.Lead architectural reviews and maintain architectural documentation. Define system architecture and data flow to minimize security risks and enhance traceability and auditability.Ensure all software solutions are compliant with relevant DHS/CBP technology standards.Write maintainable and efficient software application source code.Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle from concept to delivery.Ensure performance, scalability, security, and maintainability of the applications.Provide technical leadership to developers and engineers/junior team members.Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and development best practices.Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, customers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Communicate architectural decisions and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Review the quality of newly developed and deployed software to ensure quality and usability.Ensure newly deployed software is compatible with previous software deployments and that all applications maintain functionality.Identify, analyze, and resolve software bugs to ensure optimal functionality, performance, and user experience, adhering to project timelines and quality standards.Ensure familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Create a modern front-end framework utilizing tools such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.Ensure software is deployable in a cloud software environment (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments).Respond to the COR and other relevant parties regarding security inquiries, tasks, and action items with suggested courses of action as needed.Deploy solutions generated from Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M).Lead requirements, analysis, design reviews, sprint planning, and daily standups. Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related software development field Required Experience and Skills: 5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or architecture role.Proficient in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent.
