Job Title: Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist
Position Type: Long-Term Field Contract
Location: Project-Based (Travel Required)


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist to lead and implement comprehensive safety programs across active construction sites. This role is critical in ensuring all project activities are executed safely, in full compliance with regulatory requirements, and aligned with company safety standards. You will serve as the primary safety leader on-site, partnering closely with project management, subcontractors, and client representatives in a heavy construction environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement project-specific Safety & Health policies, procedures, and initiatives
  • Administer field Safety & Health programs to ensure safe execution of construction operations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal OSHA regulations
  • Drive a culture focused on achieving zero safety incidents
  • Conduct regular safety audits, assessments, and performance reviews; document findings and corrective actions
  • Manage and resolve safety issues that may result in work stoppages due to imminent danger
  • Collaborate with project leadership to prevent future safety incidents and work disruptions
  • Provide expert guidance on safety-related matters and recommend best practices to site personnel
  • Perform pre-construction safety assessments and implement proactive corrective measures
  • Partner with client Safety teams and subcontractors to ensure alignment and compliance across all parties
  • Lead site safety walk-throughs; document findings and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Prepare safety communications, reports, and documentation to promote awareness and accountability
  • Deliver and document safety training programs relevant to site activities
  • Review incident reports (near misses, property damage, environmental, and accidents) and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain all safety documentation in an audit-ready state and submit required reports
  • Complete daily field safety reports and ensure accurate recordkeeping
  • Travel to various project sites as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned while adhering to company policies and standards

Qualifications

Education & Experience (one of the following required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management + 7+ years relevant experience
  • Associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management + 9+ years relevant experience
  • High School Diploma/GED + 11+ years relevant experience

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations
  • Familiarity with ANSI, NIOSH, USACE EM 385-1-1, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
  • Proven experience managing safety programs in heavy construction environments
  • Ability to lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence safety culture

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate safety documentation

Certifications & Other Requirements:

  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Certification (required)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules based on project needs
  • Ability to travel to and work at various project sites
