    Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist

    Location: Northern and Central United States
    Employment Type: Contract to Hire
    Travel: 100% travel with per diem

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist to support heavy construction projects throughout the Northern and Central United States. This contract-to-hire opportunity requires 100% travel to project sites, with per diem provided.

    In this role, you will lead project-specific safety programs and provide hands-on Safety & Health leadership to project management and field teams. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, and corporate safety leadership to maintain compliance, address hazards, and support the company's goal of zero safety incidents.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and implement project-specific Safety & Health policies, procedures, and programs to ensure construction activities are properly planned and performed safely.

    • Manage site safety deliverables and promptly address safety questions, concerns, and compliance issues.

    • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal safety requirements, including OSHA regulations, and company policies and standards.

    • Conduct safety performance reviews, inspections, assessments, and walkthroughs; document findings and ensure timely correction of deficiencies.

    • Assess site hazards before work begins and implement corrective actions consistent with established policies and procedures.

    • Manage and resolve safety-related work stoppages involving immediate danger to life or health. Communicate concerns to project management and coordinate measures to prevent recurrence.

    • Collaborate with the client's Safety & Health team, project personnel, and subcontractor safety representatives to address concerns and coordinate preventive measures.

    • Advise site personnel on safety issues and recommend best practices.

    • Prepare safety communications that reinforce project goals, increase awareness, and promote a safe and productive work environment.

    • Lead, conduct, validate, and document safety training relevant to the work being performed.

    • Review near-miss, property damage, environmental incident, and accident investigation reports; recommend corrective actions and countermeasures.

    • Communicate project safety challenges, objectives, progress, and recommended solutions to corporate safety leadership.

    • Complete daily field safety reports, maintain audit-ready records, and submit required documentation.

    • Travel and drive to assigned project locations, work schedules based on project needs, and perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7 years of experience in construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management.

    • Associate degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 9 years of experience in construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management.

    • High school diploma or GED and 11 years of experience in construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management.

    Additional requirements:

    • Experienced knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) guidance, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers safety requirements and Engineer Manual 385-1, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    • Willingness and ability to travel 100% throughout the Northern and Central United States.

    • Flexibility to work various schedules at assigned project locations.

    • Valid driver's license and ability to qualify for and maintain company vehicle driving privileges under the company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

    • Completion of OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Safety Training.
