The Senior Security Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of commercial security systems. This role serves as a technical leader in the field, supporting Project Managers, customers, and technicians while ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Skills & Responsibilities
- Install, program, commission, and service commercial access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and related low-voltage systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot security platforms, controllers, field devices, cameras, and software applications.
- Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and system designs to ensure proper installation and functionality.
- Test, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair existing security and low-voltage systems.
- Lead system start-up, commissioning, and customer demonstrations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians and field teams.
- Identify installation challenges and recommend solutions to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
- Complete daily reports, service documentation, and project closeout records.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Communicate professionally with customers, Project Managers, and internal teams.
- Travel to customer and project sites as required.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience with commercial access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and related low-voltage systems.
- Experience programming and commissioning security systems required.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Experience leading installations and supporting junior technicians preferred.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Manufacturer certifications preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on ladders and elevated work surfaces.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, and use of power tools.
- Ability to work in both new construction and occupied building environments.
- Ability to travel regularly to customer and project sites
