Role: Senior Scrum Master (Kanban Focus)

Location: Houston, Texas

Assignment Type: 6-12 month contract, possibility to extend

Work Schedule:In office Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with Remote Fridays

Pay Rate: $60-$65/hour

Overview:

We are partnering with a large enterprise organization seeking a Senior Scrum Master with deep expertise in Kanban and flow-based delivery. This individual will independently support multiple Agile teams and drive measurable improvements in delivery health, transparency, and predictability.

This role is best suited for a highly autonomous delivery leader who thrives in complex environments and can influence both teams and stakeholders at multiple levels.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach multiple Agile teams utilizing Kanban and flow-based delivery practices
  • Assess delivery effectiveness and identify systemic impediments impacting flow
  • Implement and evolve Kanban systems to improve transparency, throughput, and predictability
  • Facilitate key Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, planning sessions, and retrospectives
  • Leverage delivery metrics (WIP, cycle time, throughput, aging work, etc.) to guide continuous improvement
  • Support cross-team coordination and alignment across various delivery models (Scrum, Kanban, hybrid)
  • Partner closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to maintain backlog health and delivery alignment
  • Promote Agile best practices and serve as a mentor to other Scrum Masters

Required Qualifications:

  • Scrum certification (CSM, PSM, or equivalent) and formal Kanban training or certification
  • Strong experience leading Kanban teams in complex, enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and drive measurable delivery improvements
  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent teams
  • Recent hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO)
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder communication skills
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations while maintaining team accountability and transparency

Preferred:

  • Experience in scaled Agile environments
  • Experience facilitating Agile training sessions
  • Experience mentoring other delivery leaders
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices (CI/CD, automated testing, user stories, TDD, etc.)

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, including significant experience supporting Kanban teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
