Job Title: Senior Scientist, In Vitro ADME
Location: Onsite Emeryville, CA
Duration: 18 months
Pay Rate: ***/hr - ***/hr
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Senior Scientist to support the development and execution of in vitro ADME assays for the evaluation and optimization of potential therapeutic candidates. This onsite role, based in Emeryville, CA, will contribute to drug discovery programs by generating high-quality data to inform compound progression and candidate selection.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience conducting in vitro ADME assays in a biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or contract research organization setting, with strong technical expertise in LC-MS/MS, enzyme kinetics, cell-based assays, and data interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute in vitro ADME assays to support drug discovery and candidate optimization.
- Conduct ADME screening studies, including but not limited to microsomal stability, hepatocyte stability, permeability, plasma protein binding, and related metabolism assays.
- Generate, analyze, interpret, and report high-quality data to support project decisions and compound progression.
- Collaborate closely with DMPK, biology, chemistry, and project team members to ensure timely delivery of decision-enabling data.
- Design and troubleshoot in vitro experiments to address project-specific questions related to compound metabolism, stability, permeability, and protein binding.
- Contribute to LC-MS/MS bioanalytical method development, sample analysis, assay optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Apply enzyme kinetic and quantitative bioanalytical principles to support assay design and data interpretation.
- Prepare experimental protocols, study summaries, technical reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and project teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks and ensure adherence to internal quality and safety standards.
- Support implementation and use of laboratory automation platforms, as applicable.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on in vitro ADME experience in a biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or contract research organization environment.
- Strong understanding of DMPK and ADME principles, including assay design, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing automated in vitro assays to evaluate and optimize ADME properties of drug candidates.
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS-based sample analysis;experience with Sciex instruments is preferred.
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, Analyst, or similar software.
- Experience using electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Experience with laboratory automation platforms such as Hamilton, Tecan, or similar systems is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present scientific findings clearly to cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team-oriented setting.
Note:
The successful candidate is expected to maintain a safe laboratory environment and follow all applicable environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures. The role requires appropriate handling of chemicals, biological materials, and laboratory instrumentation, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to safe laboratory practices.
