    Description

Application deadline: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis

The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a skilled Senior SAP Technical Consultant to join our team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will own the technical architecture and engineering strategy for SAP engagements across ABAP development, BTP extensibility, BASIS operations, and integration delivered within customer environments. You will lead multidisciplinary delivery teams of ABAP developers, BTP engineers, and BASIS professionals on complex SAP S/4HANA RISE migrations and modernization programs, establishing the technical standards, governance, and delivery mechanisms that produce secure, scalable, and maintainable SAP outcomes for AWS customers.

This role requires someone who moves fluidly between enterprise architecture decisions and hands-on technical problem-solving. You will evaluate solution alternatives, define development and extensibility patterns, resolve complex technical risks mid-delivery, and ensure ABAP, BTP, and BASIS workstreams operate as one integrated engineering organization across AWS teams, customer teams, and SI partners.

The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team of experts that help customers realize their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work together with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives. Our team provides assistance through a collection of offerings which help customers achieve specific outcomes related to enterprise cloud adoption. We also deliver focused guidance through our global specialty practices, which cover a variety of solutions, technologies, and industries.

    Key job responsibilities

Own the SAP technical architecture across ABAP, BTP, BASIS, integrations, extensibility, and platform operations on active customer engagements

Lead and develop multidisciplinary delivery teams across BASIS, ABAP, and BTP disciplines, establishing clear ownership, priorities, standards, and delivery expectations on every program

Define technical patterns and guardrails for SAP configuration, custom development, workflows, forms, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and extensions and enforce them across customer and partner teams

Establish and defend clean-core principles on every engagement, determining when requirements are addressed through standard SAP functionality, in-app extensibility, side-by-side BTP extensions, or custom ABAP and holding that line under commercial pressure

Own BTP architecture decisions including account and subaccount design, environments, connectivity, identity, security, application services, integration services, development standards, and lifecycle management

Lead BASIS architecture and operational design across system landscapes, environments, transports, upgrades, patching, performance, capacity, availability, disaster recovery, monitoring, and production support

Establish software development standards covering solution design, coding, peer reviews, automated testing, documentation, source control, CI/CD, transport management, and release governance and embed them into customer delivery teams that will own them post-engagement

Partner with functional architects, customer product teams, and SI partners to convert business requirements into scalable technical designs and accurate delivery estimates

Review and approve technical designs across workstreams, ensuring solutions meet requirements for performance, scalability, security, controls, resilience, supportability, and cost

Develop technical roadmaps, architecture documents, SOW inputs, decision materials, and executive updates that communicate priorities, risks, trade-offs, and required investments to both customer and AWS leadership

Evaluate emerging SAP and generative AI capabilities including Kiro, ABAP Accelerator, and agentic testing frameworks and identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity, user experience, automation, monitoring, and support on active engagements

    What Makes This Role Different

You are not maintaining a system. You are building the technical foundation customers rely on after AWS leaves. Every architecture decision, every standard you set, and every pattern you enforce becomes the customer"s operational reality. The bar is high, the engagements are complex, and the impact is permanent.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
