Senior SAP BRIM Functional Architect

Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior SAP BRIM Functional Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex billing and revenue-management solutions for a large enterprise environment.
This is primarily a functional leadership position—approximately 80% functional and 20% technical. The ideal consultant combines strong business-process expertise with enough technical depth to guide integrations, data flows, development teams, and solution decisions.
Candidates with experience supporting large retail, telecommunications, utilities, media, or other high-volume consumer businesses are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead business discovery sessions and requirements workshops with finance, billing, operations, product, and technology stakeholders.
• Own the end-to-end functional architecture for SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation Management.
• Translate business requirements into scalable solution designs, process flows, functional specifications, configuration requirements, and implementation plans.
• Design billing processes involving recurring, usage-based, one-time, bundled, and consumption-based charges.
• Provide functional leadership across relevant SAP BRIM components, including:
  • Subscription Order Management
  • Convergent Charging
  • Convergent Invoicing
  • Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA)
  • Subscription Billing and related order-to-cash capabilities
• Design processes for pricing, customer contracts, billing cycles, invoicing, adjustments, payments, collections, cancellations, and dispute management.
• Ensure the solution can support high transaction volumes, complex customer hierarchies, multiple products, and large-scale billing operations.
• Evaluate existing business processes and recommend opportunities for simplification, automation, and standardization.
• Partner with SAP developers, integration architects, data teams, and enterprise architects to define interfaces and technical requirements.
• Provide functional direction for integrations with SAP S/4HANA or ECC, finance, CRM, tax, payment, customer-service, and external platforms.
• Review technical designs and development specifications to ensure alignment with the approved functional architecture.
• Support configuration, prototyping, testing, defect resolution, data conversion, deployment, and post-production stabilization.
• Develop test scenarios and lead business validation, user acceptance testing, and stakeholder sign-off.
• Identify solution risks, dependencies, design gaps, and implementation tradeoffs.
• Serve as the primary SAP BRIM subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to business and technology leadership.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP experience, including significant hands-on experience with SAP BRIM.
• 5+ years of experience leading BRIM functional design or solution architecture.
• Strong knowledge of at least two core BRIM areas, with working knowledge of the broader end-to-end platform.
• Deep understanding of billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, collections, pricing, payments, and order-to-cash processes.
• Experience designing solutions for high-volume or highly complex billing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead requirements workshops and communicate effectively with senior business stakeholders.
• Experience producing functional designs, process documentation, configuration specifications, and integration requirements.
• Sufficient technical knowledge to understand APIs, interfaces, data models, batch processing, system performance, and custom SAP development.
• Experience working with distributed functional, development, testing, and integration teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a large retailer or another enterprise processing high volumes of consumer transactions.
• Experience in telecommunications, utilities, media, subscription services, or usage-based billing.
• SAP S/4HANA and BRIM transformation or migration experience.
• Experience integrating BRIM with SAP Finance, CRM, tax, payment gateways, customer-service platforms, or third-party billing systems.
• Experience with product catalogs, complex pricing models, customer hierarchies, promotions, bundles, and recurring services.
• SAP certification in BRIM, FI-CA, S/4HANA, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience serving as a client-facing consultant or functional workstream lead.
