Position Summary
Plastic Staffing is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Senior Sales Manager to drive new business development, strategic account growth, and territory expansion within the flexible packaging, plastic films, and industrial materials markets.
This is a fully remote, senior-level individual-contributor sales position for an experienced B2B professional who can independently develop and grow a multi-state territory across the Northeast and Midwest. The selected individual will be responsible for identifying new revenue opportunities, developing relationships with manufacturing and converting organizations, expanding existing accounts, and managing complex sales opportunities from initial prospecting through close.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of selling within plastic films, flexible packaging, converting, industrial distribution, or a closely related manufacturing market. This person should be comfortable opening new accounts, developing long-term customer relationships, navigating technical or application-driven sales discussions, and managing territory strategy with limited day-to-day supervision.
The Senior Sales Manager will have significant autonomy and direct visibility to senior leadership, making this an attractive opportunity for an established sales professional who wants ownership of territory growth and the ability to directly influence revenue development.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic territory plans focused on revenue growth, new customer acquisition, and expansion of existing accounts.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within flexible packaging, plastic films, converting, manufacturing, and related industrial markets.
Build relationships with manufacturers, converters, purchasing professionals, operations leaders, and executive-level decision-makers.
Maintain consistent prospecting and business-development activity through direct outreach, referrals, networking, customer visits, and industry relationships.
Manage the complete sales cycle from initial prospecting and qualification through quotation, negotiation, closing, and ongoing account development.
Develop a strong understanding of customer applications, material requirements, purchasing needs, and business challenges to identify appropriate solutions.
Maintain and strategically grow existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities to increase account revenue and market penetration.
Develop long-term, consultative customer relationships rather than relying solely on transactional sales.
Maintain disciplined follow-up on quotations, active opportunities, developing accounts, and strategic prospects.
Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline aligned with territory revenue objectives.
Provide accurate forecasts and communicate customer activity, developing opportunities, market conditions, and competitive intelligence to senior leadership.
Utilize CRM and related sales systems to maintain accurate customer, opportunity, pipeline, and activity information.
Collaborate with operations, purchasing, customer service, and other internal teams to support customer requirements and successful order execution.
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer demand, and developing opportunities within the films and flexible packaging markets.
Represent the organization professionally during customer meetings, trade shows, networking activities, and other industry events as required.
Remote Territory Management
Independently manage a multi-state sales territory within a fully remote work environment.
Strategically prioritize prospecting, account development, customer visits, follow-up activity, and high-value opportunities.
Maintain strong accountability and regular communication with senior sales leadership.
Balance new customer acquisition with strategic development of existing accounts.
Travel throughout the assigned territory as necessary to develop and maintain customer relationships.
Maintain an active presence within relevant manufacturing, converting, films, and packaging markets.
Qualifications
Proven B2B sales experience within flexible packaging, plastic films, converting, industrial materials, plastics manufacturing, industrial distribution, or a closely related technical market.
Demonstrated success developing new business and opening new customer accounts.
Proven experience managing and growing existing customer relationships.
Experience independently managing a regional or multi-state sales territory.
Strong understanding of technical, application-driven, or manufacturing-focused B2B sales.
Experience managing the complete sales cycle from prospecting through negotiation and close.
Strong territory planning, pipeline management, forecasting, and follow-up capabilities.
Ability to develop relationships across purchasing, operations, technical, and executive-level stakeholders.
Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
Experience utilizing CRM systems and maintaining disciplined sales activity and opportunity documentation.
Self-directed, organized, accountable, and comfortable operating with significant autonomy.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as business needs require.
Candidates must reside within the Northeast or Midwest United States.
Preferred Experience
Direct sales experience within flexible packaging, plastic films, film converting, or related materials.
Experience selling polyethylene, polyester/PET, polypropylene, laminated, specialty, or comparable film products.
Experience selling to film converters, manufacturers, processors, distributors, or other industrial customers.
Established relationships within flexible packaging, plastic films, converting, or related manufacturing markets.
Experience selling materials where specifications, applications, performance, pricing, availability, and customer requirements influence purchasing decisions.
Proven success developing an underpenetrated territory or building new accounts from the ground up.
Demonstrated ability to balance new-business development with strategic account growth.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced sales professional who knows how to build business-not simply maintain an established book of accounts.
This person should be comfortable opening doors, developing senior-level customer relationships, identifying new applications and revenue opportunities, and independently determining where to invest their time across a large territory.
Industry knowledge is highly valued. Candidates with established experience selling films, flexible packaging, converting solutions, plastics, industrial materials, or comparable products into manufacturing-based customers are strongly encouraged to apply.
