Description

Overview:

Execute the development, implementation, instruction, maintenance, and administration of safety initiatives at Sheetz, with general direction and independent judgement aligned to departmental objectives.  Identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace health and safety hazards, for assigned area/business unit(s), through technical knowledge and expertise, while driving a positive safety culture through employee engagement, communication, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

1.    Execute the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of safety programs and associated training to ensure compliance and promote a safe work environment within assigned area(s) of ownership.
2.    Independently coordinate and perform industrial hygiene sampling to identify workplace health hazards, evaluate exposure levels, and interpret results to recommend corrective actions and ensure regulatory compliance.
3.    Attend and actively participate in safety committees and meetings, including independently preparing and delivering safety presentations, sharing incident trends and observations, and influencing adoption of safety initiatives and recommendations.
4.    Participate in regulatory audit processes, interpreting regulatory requirements, and ensure execution of compliance activities, including ownership of follow-up and closure activities.
5.    Lead near miss, incident, and injury investigations, including root cause analysis, documentation, data collection, and development, implementation, and tracking of corrective and preventative actions to closure.
6.    Execute safety inspections and maintenance of safety equipment, including verifying operational readiness, identifying deficiencies, prioritizing risks, coordinating repairs or replacements, and ensuring required documentation is completed and maintained.
7.    Partner with cross-functional departments within assigned area(s) of ownership to drive accountability for safe work practices, support safety initiatives, and coach leaders and employees to improve safety performance and engagement.
8.    Analyze safety performance data within area(s) of ownership to identify trends, develop actionable insights, provide reporting, and implement improvements to reduce risk and enhance safety performance.
9.    Lead or coordinate the response, investigation, and resolution of significant incidents, injuries, facility/utility issues, and emergency situations, including events occurring outside of normal business hours when assigned.
10.    Participate in scheduled after-hours and weekend duty rotations to provide decisioning support for incident response, emergency events, and operational safety needs.
11.    Contribute to and independently execute continuous improvement initiatives for safety programs, procedures, training materials, communication tools, providing recommendations based on observed trends, regulatory changes, and business needs, for assigned area/business unit(s).

Qualifications:

(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)


Education
•    Bachelor’s degree in safety science or safety engineering required.

 

Experience
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in safety operations within construction or general industry required
•    Demonstrated experience independently managing safety activities, including investigations, inspections, and program implementation preferred

 

Licenses/Certifications
•    Valid State Issued Driver’s License required
