Title: Senior Robotics Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Robotics Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on support for robotic automation systems in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ABB industrial robots, robotic system integration, troubleshooting, process optimization, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will work closely with Manufacturing, Controls, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to maximize safety, quality, equipment reliability, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, configure, commission, and optimize ABB industrial robots and robotic work cells.
- Troubleshoot robots, PLCs, tooling, sensors, vision systems, and automation equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Develop and enhance robot programs for assembly, material handling, machine tending, and automated manufacturing processes.
- Lead robotic system integration, testing, validation, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis, performance optimization, and collaboration with Controls, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in robotics, automation, or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting ABB robots.
- Proficiency with ABB RobotStudio and ABB robot controllers.
- Experience integrating robots with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation systems, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and support production-critical robotic systems.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vision-guided robotics and automated inspection systems.
- Experience commissioning new production lines and automation equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification/experience.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
