Multi-Location Food Service Leadership | Grocery Retail | Culinary Operations
An established, customer-focused grocery retailer is seeking an experienced Senior Retail Food Service Operations Manager to lead food service performance, operational excellence, and business growth across multiple retail locations. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a food retail professional with extensive experience overseeing deli, bakery, prepared foods, and fresh food operations while driving profitability and developing high-performing teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping food service strategy, improving the customer experience, and expanding profitable food programs across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Multi-Location Operations Leadership: Direct food service operations across multiple grocery retail locations, ensuring consistency in food quality, customer service, merchandising, food safety, and operational standards while driving sales growth and profitability.
Financial Performance & Business Strategy: Analyze sales trends, gross margins, labor expenses, inventory performance, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost control, waste reduction, and operational improvements.
Team Development & Leadership: Coach and mentor food service leaders, deli and bakery managers, and culinary teams while establishing training initiatives, strengthening leadership capabilities, and supporting succession planning.
Food Service Innovation & Execution: Partner with culinary, merchandising, marketing, and store operations teams to introduce new food programs, optimize product assortments, execute seasonal promotions, strengthen vendor relationships, and improve the overall shopping experience.
Qualifications
Retail Food Service Leadership: Minimum of 5 years of management experience within a multi-location food retail organization; 10+ years of leadership experience in grocery food service, deli, bakery, prepared foods, or related operations preferred.
Operational & Culinary Expertise: Strong understanding of fresh and perishable food operations, food production, inventory management, food safety regulations, merchandising, vendor management, and retail promotional strategies; commissary or culinary production experience beneficial.
Financial & Strategic Capabilities: Proven ability to manage operational performance through financial analysis, sales forecasting, labor optimization, margin improvement, and the successful implementation of business initiatives.
Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, develop managers, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and travel frequently between retail locations, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Salary $124,000 - $155,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
