Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Research Analyst in Boston, MA. Summary: We are seeking a Senior Research Finance Analyst to support grant and contract financial management within a research-focused environment. This role is responsible for managing post-award grant activities, conducting complex financial analysis, performing reconciliations, ensuring compliance with sponsor and regulatory requirements, and supporting leadership with reporting and special projects. The ideal candidate will have strong research finance experience, deep knowledge of grant accounting regulations, and the ability to independently identify and resolve financial issues in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage post-award grant and contract financial activities throughout the grant lifecycle
  • Review and monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and Uniform Guidance regulations
  • Analyze allowable and unallowable costs and monitor indirect cost allocations
  • Perform complex financial reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis
  • Support grant closeouts and required financial reporting activities
  • Conduct detailed analytical reviews and validate data across multiple reports and systems
  • Identify discrepancies, research root causes, and implement corrective solutions
  • Support research administration and grant financial management functions
  • Assist with portfolio coverage and analyst-level responsibilities as needed
  • Partner with leadership on special projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Support compliance, audit, and financial reporting requirements
  • Thrive in an evolving environment with changing priorities and non-standardized processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; Accounting degree strongly preferred
  • Research finance experience
  • Grant accounting experience
  • Experience with grant and contract financial management
  • Experience with post-award grant administration
  • Experience with indirect cost calculations
  • Experience supporting academic medical centers, hospitals, universities, research institutions, or nonprofit organizations
  • Knowledge of allowable versus unallowable costs
  • Strong understanding of Uniform Guidance regulations
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Reliable, responsive, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to evolving processes

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
