KAKE News has an immediate opening for an experienced, enterprising Senior Reporter. The successful candidate will have big shoes to fill. This team has a history of producing award-winning and policy-changing content.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Enterprise, develop, write and present content as assigned for newscasts, specials. special projects on any platform.
- Research and produce in-depth, original, or long-form investigative stories, often using FOIA requests and data-driven reporting.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and editorial leadership to junior reporters.
- Aggressively Pursue Breaking News
- Perform active live shots in the field or studio as assigned
- Look for points of difference in storytelling
- Support and champion the KAKE News Brand
- Be able to post video and stories on web and mobile platforms
- Drive and operate station vehicles
- Travel long distances in the execution of assigned duties
- Be available on-call as assigned
- Ability to shoot & edit stories a plus
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- At least 7 years' experience as a reporter
- College degree in broadcast journalism
- Ability to work independently with excellent editorial judgment
- Deep understanding of journalistic ethics, media law, and accuracy
- Aggressive and competitive qualities with an overriding sense of good journalism, and fair reporting
- Have a valid driver's license
