Quality Engineer

Job Description

Lead quality engineering activities for new product launches, engineering changes, and existing production programs, ensuring effective quality planning, validation, and manufacturing readiness.

Develop, maintain, and enhance quality system documentation, including inspection plans, control plans, work instructions, process flows, procedures, and testing requirements.

Drive complex corrective and preventive action initiatives through structured root cause analysis and data-driven problem-solving methodologies.

Monitor and improve process performance by analyzing capability, variation, and defect trends using statistical tools and quality metrics.

Facilitate risk assessments, PFMEA activities, process reviews, and error-proofing initiatives to strengthen process controls and reduce quality risks.

Plan and execute product, process, and equipment qualification activities to ensure compliance with customer and operational requirements.

Lead investigations into customer complaints, internal quality issues, and nonconformances, coordinating containment actions and long-term corrective measures.

Provide technical guidance on material dispositions, deviations, rework, and scrap decisions while ensuring compliance with quality standards and documentation requirements.

Manage supplier quality performance through audits, scorecards, performance reviews, and collaborative improvement initiatives.

Champion continuous improvement efforts utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality methodologies to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and lower the cost of poor quality.

Oversee calibration and validation programs for CMMs, metrology equipment, and precision measurement systems to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.

Develop and present quality performance reports, audit findings, trend analyses, and improvement recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams.

Build strong working relationships with customers and serve as a key point of contact for quality-related matters.

Support compliance with quality management systems and applicable industry standards through internal audits, external audits, corrective actions, and continuous system improvements.

Mentor and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and operations personnel by providing coaching, technical guidance, and quality-focused training.

Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and optimize manufacturing processes.

Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Perform additional projects and responsibilities as needed to support quality, operational, and business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

6+ years of progressive Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably supporting injection molding operations.

Proven success leading complex quality initiatives, corrective actions, root cause investigations, and cross-functional process improvement projects.

Strong working knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies, including ISO 9001, SPC, TQM, DOE, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Continuous Improvement practices.

Experience analyzing process capability, driving quality improvements, and utilizing statistical methods to support data-driven decision-making.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.

Hands-on experience with CMMs, precision measurement equipment, metrology systems, and quality inspection processes.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Experience with quality and statistical software, including Minitab, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, CAD, or similar tools, preferred.

Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification desired.
