    Description

    Job Summary: Senior Software Developer Financial Accounting Applications (Freddie Mac, McLean, VA)

    Key Responsibilities:
    - Refactor and modernize financial accounting and forecasting applications for improved maintainability, performance, and scalability.
    - Develop and enhance core forecasting engine features to increase model accuracy, runtime efficiency, and enterprise readiness.
    - Support critical quarterly and yearly production runs for financial reporting by monitoring execution, troubleshooting, and ensuring data integrity and timeliness.
    - Diagnose and resolve software defects; reduce technical debt and drive continuous improvements in line with software engineering best practices.
    - Write clean, robust, high-quality code with strong automated unit and integration test coverage.
    - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data, services, APIs, infrastructure) to deliver end-to-end solutions.
    - Partner with FP&A and other stakeholders to implement new forecasting capabilities and support scenario analysis for regulatory and business needs.
    - Assist with infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations, and adoption of new technologies.
    - Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and documentation to ensure high-quality deliverables and collaborative problem-solving.

    Must-Have Qualifications:
    - Minimum 4 years hands-on software development experience with modern programming languages (Python, Java, or C#).
    - 1 2 years experience with Git version control in a team setting.
    - 1 2 years experience with SQL and relational database development.
    - 1 2 years experience with containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
    - Proficiency in shell scripting.
    - 1 2 years experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., Pytest, JUnit) and automated test coverage.
    - Understanding of fixed income concepts (duration, convexity, spread, OAS).
    - Strong oral and written communication skills.
    - Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, business acumen, and familiarity with Agile development.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    - Graduate degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related).
    - Knowledge of GAAP accounting fundamentals (revenue/expense recognition, amortization).
    - CFA/FRM/CPA certification or progress toward certification.
    - Experience working with stakeholders to gather requirements, align priorities, and drive delivery.
    - Exposure to product/project management tools (e.g., JIRA).

    - Interview: 2 rounds (1st virtual, 2nd onsite) with dual-camera requirement.
