Senior Purchasing Manager

A well-established manufacturer is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities across a complex production environment. This position is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, strengthening supplier relationships, improving material availability, and leading a team focused on supporting operational and business objectives. This opportunity is well-suited for a procurement leader who can balance strategic decision-making with a strong understanding of the daily challenges facing a manufacturing supply chain.

Job Description

  • Direct and develop purchasing operations to ensure uninterrupted support of manufacturing requirements
  • Establish sourcing strategies that improve supplier performance, reduce risk, and support long-term business objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers while identifying opportunities for cost savings and value creation
  • Lead contract negotiations and commercial discussions related to pricing, lead times, service levels, and supplier agreements
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, planning, and finance teams to align procurement priorities with business needs
  • Monitor inventory levels, purchasing trends, and material requirements to improve service levels and working capital performance
  • Evaluate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to maintain business continuity
  • Drive initiatives focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and procurement best practices
  • Utilize data and reporting tools to support decision-making and measure departmental performance
  • Coach and develop procurement team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of purchasing, sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Prior leadership experience managing purchasing, procurement, or supply chain personnel
  • Demonstrated success negotiating supplier agreements and managing key vendor relationships
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, material planning, and manufacturing operations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
