Join a fast-paced Vehicle & Propulsion Controls team focused on delivering high-quality, reliable software for electrified and internal combustion (ICE) powertrains. This role is ideal for an experienced validation engineer who enjoys hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and working across both Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and vehicle environments.
As a Senior Propulsion Controls Validation Engineer, you will execute validation strategies, identify software issues, and support root-cause analysis to ensure robust powertrain system performance. You will also provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members while operating with a high level of independence.
Key Responsibilities
Execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs) across HIL and vehicle testing environments tovalidatepropulsion control systems
Review propulsion system requirements for clarity, completeness, and testability and ensure alignment with validation test cases
Identify gaps or inconsistencies in requirements and collaborate with design teams to refine and update DVPs
Perform issue pre-analysis and troubleshooting to accelerate root-cause identification and resolution
Develop and execute edge-case and failure-mode test scenarios to uncover potential system defects
Conduct testing on electrified and ICE propulsion system architectures using HIL rigs and test vehicles
Support On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) validation and diagnostic testing activities
Document test results, defects, and validation evidence to support issue tracking and resolution
Independently manage validation activities, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
Provide informal mentoring, including peer reviews of test strategies, troubleshooting support, and best practices
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
5 or more years of engineering experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in a multi-cultural matrix organization
Professional communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)
Hands-on experience working on HIL and/or vehicle platforms, both on-site and remotely as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
Experience with HIL and vehicle software validation testing methodologies
Proficiency in network protocols
Strong understanding of propulsion system architectures
Hands-on experience with CANoe, CANalyzer, and INCA tools
Knowledge of hazard analysis criteria and electronics
Experience simulating CAN messages via CAPL
